About Webb Hill Country Club
Webb Hill Country Club is set on 220 beautiful wooded, rolling acres between Greenville and Wolfe City Texas. It was built in 1969 using a program started under the Eisenhower administration to help rejuvenate small towns. The course was designed by Leon Howard. The club currently offers the following amenities:
- 18 hole golf course
- Pro Shop
- Driving Range and Putting Green
- Private Dining Room
- 19th Hole Grill
- Full Bar
- Swimming Pool
Charles and Shirley Ranly purchased the club in March of 1976, and spent their lives working to make it the beautiful property it is today. Sadly, Charles passed away in September of 2023 and Shirley in May of 2024. There is a plaque dedicated to them from the area Kiwanis Clubs “For their dedication, determination and devotion to making Webb Hill Country Club a superb venue for golf and social events and recognizing their unwavering generosity to the community.”
An interesting side noteā¦ a story Charles loved to tell: Charles worked for legendary golf instructor Harvey Pennick at Austin Country Club. Harvey hired Charles as a caddie and later on in to the pro shop. Mr. Pennick signed Charles’s PGA application. Harvey Pennick authored “The Little Red Book” and “The Little Green Book” of golf.
The club has now been passed on to their nephew, Scott Holey, who has served as the general manager since 1996. His goal is to continue the legacy that Charles and Shirley started so many years ago.
